Government Documents Depository- Tampa-Hillsborough County Government Document Depository.

The government documents collection is located at the John F. German Public Library in downtown Tampa. The collection is currently being shifted to house more federal documents. I spoke with Janet Bergeron, the coordinator of the government documents collection, Ms. Bergeron has her MLS and has worked with the state documents for over five years just recently her job responsibilities were increased when federal documents were included. This specific collection does not have a mission statement separate from the Hillsborough public library system, nut the mission of the collection is to preserve federal, state, and local documents and give patrons the ability to utilize these materials. Two people, Ms. Bergeron and Juliet Douglass, staff the collection. The majority of people using these collections of documents according to Ms. Bergeron are local university students; in addition to students there are many people who are interested in the agricultural documents. Ms. Bergeron talked about the assistance that they provide in regards to online resources, while the collection is mostly available online; there are several documents in the state collection that are in-house use only. Since there are no issues with theft of these materials, the government documents are shelved in open stacks.  The collection is being reorganized to provide easier access to patrons and also make shelving material easier for staff.
